Mission Statement .

The Miriam K. Bloom Library for Psychoanalytic Research will offer education and opportunities to do research into, and the study of, psychoanalysis and the study of human motivation. As a member of its local community, the MKBLPR will host Public Lectures, Professional Continuing Education trainings and Conferences on psychoanalysis, community mental health, ethics and healing that are relevant and responsive to the library’s community and its members. MKBLPR will make these educational lectures and trainings accessible to members of the local and global community. MKBLPR believes in the applicability of psychoanalytic understanding to every walk of life, from parenting to education, from politics to business, art, social research, history, literature, community mental health and climate change. MKBLPR believes that psychoanalytic knowledge can make a valuable contribution to addressing and understanding prejudice, privilege, discrimination, intergenerational and systemic trauma. Integrating diverse perspectives is an ongoing project of the library and its programs.

In addition to research, MKBLPR will endeavor to make its facilities available for community events, such as book and poetry readings, music events, and Art exhibits. MKBLPR will use its expertise to encourage understanding among all community members.
